New EPO Fee Schedule in Force as of 1 April 2026

As of 1 April 2026, the new fee schedule of the European Patent Office (EPO) has come into effect. As part of this adjustment, filing, examination, and renewal fees in particular have been increased. The average increase amounts to approximately 5–10%, depending on the type of fee. The aim of this adjustment is to ensure the long-term financial stability of the EPO and to cover rising operating and digitalization costs. In addition, it is intended to maintain the high quality of procedures and services. Applicants should take the new fees into account when planning patent filings and maintenance strategies.
