Record Demand for European Patents in 2025

Demand for European patents exceeded 200,000 applications for the first time in 2025. According to the European Patent Office (EPO), a total of around 201,974 patent applications were filed, representing moderate growth of approximately 1.4% compared to the previous year.

Demand was particularly strong in technology-driven fields such as digitalization, energy, and medical technology. The majority of applications კვლავ originated from the United States and Germany, while China ranked among the top three countries of origin for the first time.

This development highlights the continued momentum of innovation and underscores Europe’s importance as an attractive jurisdiction for protecting technological inventions.
